Where We Started
Badland Blades is Mike's handmade knife shop in North Carolina. Each piece is handcrafted, and many are one of one. Selling them took more than a template store could offer: real inventory per knife, checkout that charges the right sales tax, shipping labels and tracking, and a way to record cash and in-person sales next to online orders.
Handmade goods sell on detail and trust. Buyers want to see every angle of a one-of-a-kind blade, know it's really in stock, and check out without friction, while the maker needs the back office to stay simple enough to run between builds.
How We Navigated It
We designed and built a custom online store from the ground up and launched it on his own domain, badlandblade.com. Shoppers browse the collection, limited drops, and custom-order options and pay with a secure card checkout, with North Carolina sales tax added automatically. Behind it, a private Admin runs the business: orders, products, customers, discounts, returns, and reviews. Cash and in-person sales can be marked paid in a few clicks, shipping labels print right from the dashboard, and customers get tracking updates automatically. Secure logins protect staff and customer accounts.
Every piece of the store was built around that: product pages that show the craftsmanship, inventory that reflects real one-of-one stock, a checkout that handles tax and shipping automatically, and an Admin that turns a paid order into a printed shipping label and a tracking email without leaving the dashboard.
